Welcoming Reception for Honorable Alper Aktas
On Tuesday, January 29, 2019, The American Turkish Society organized a private reception to welcome the new Consul General of Turkey in New York Honorable Alper Aktas, at The Harvard Club. Distinguished guests representing various industries from the American-Turkish community including Manhattan Borough President Honorable Gale Brewer, Mayor of Chatham Township of New Jersey Tayfun Selen, Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Turkey to the United Nations Honorable Rauf Denktas, Acting Deputy Permanent Representative and Senior Adviser of the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations Honorable Serge Christiane, and Former Consul General of Turkey in Los Angeles Honorable Engin Ansay, attended. Co-Chair of The Society, Larry Kaye delivered opening remarks and introduced Honorable Alper Aktas to the crowd. Following his remarks, Consul General Alper Aktas delivered a heartwarming speech.
