Furkan Konuk

Furkan was born in Turkey in 2001. His first exposure to music was his father playing piano and lute to him. He began to take piano lessons when he was six years old. Three years later, he started playing drums, which he devoted most of his time to practicing.

He is currently in his second year studying as a jazz major at Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul. He won the 2020 Roland V-Drums Drum Competition in Istanbul and was placed second in the 2018 Roland V-Drums Drum Competition in Turkey.

One of his greatest dreams is to study at Berklee, and he believes that The Arif Mardin 5-Week Music Fellowship is a vital opportunity to learn different aspects of jazz music by exposing students to new ideas and a bigger world. He thinks that music is the best way to convey his feelings to people and that his experience at Berklee will contribute to his cultural and musical vision with its legendary academic staff and show him the best way to succeed as a professional musician.
