Turner Broadcasting Systems & Doğan Media Group
On October 18, 2012, The American Turkish Society held its Annual Gala at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, commemorating the joint venture of Time Warner and Doğan Holding in CNN Türk, the first television channel in Turkey co-founded with a foreign media company. Mr. Donald Trump and Ms. Christiane Amanpour served as Dinner Committee Co-Chairs and presented our honorees, Mr. Philip I. Kent, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. and Ms. Arzuhan Doğan Yalçındağ, Chairwoman, Doğan TV Holding A.Ş., with The Society’s “Corporate Partnership Award”.
Our gala dinner welcomed distinguished guests from public and private sectors, including diplomats, leading business executives, artists, scholars and top journalists, with over 350 guests from Turkey and the United States, celebrating U.S.-Turkey relations. As The Society’s main fundraising event, the dinner raised over $500,000 for our educational and cultural programs, including scholarships, exchanges, residencies, cultural performances, lectures, and grants.
