Meltem Sahin

Meltem is an artist and designer. She completed her master’s degree in illustration at MICA, USA, with a Fulbright scholarship. Her works have been exhibited in more than 30 exhibitions, her animations have been shown in 7 countries, and her gifs have been viewed more than 290 million times. Meltem’s illustrations have have been selected by the Society of Illustration, American Illustration, Applied Arts, Bologna Children’s Book Fair, and 3×3. She curated an augmented reality exhibition, PMS. Her work with AI technology has been selected for the permanent collection of the National Gallery in London.
Meltem’s exhibition at the SVA is named “woven self”. In “woven self”, Meltem weaved a narrative that intertwined personal trauma and resilience a digital carpet. Drawing inspiration from women who have historically woven their secrets into carpets, crafting hidden languages, Meltem shaped her library of motifs with the movements of her body. Each motive represented her – moving and understanding – depicting the physical and pyschological abuse she endured thirteen years ago.
