Kavur by Firat Ozeler
We are proud to announce that the world premiere for the documentary “Kavur” by Firat Ozeler, who was a Moon and Stars Project grant recipient for the year 2021, will be held at the Rotterdam Film Festival from January 25th to February 5th, under the Cinema Regained department.
MASP supported the post-production phase of the documentary, Kavur. The shooting of Kavur had concluded in 2021 and the post-production process was completed in 2022. In the documentary, Firat traces Omer Kavur’s life story and his incomprehensive inner world. In an effort to remember one of the most important directors of Turkish cinema, with an extensive archive of work and documents that have not come to light before, Firat wants to keep Kavur’s name alive and ensure that he gets the value he deserves.
Firat was born in Istanbul in 1995. After 3 years of medical education, he started to study cinema in Kadir Has University. His first short film “The Banquet” won two awards at Akbank Film Forum and KisaKes Pitching Platform for its script and premiered at Sarajevo Film Festival in 2019. He is also closely involved in experimental cinema and works on video art. He completed his second film, an experimental short, “Things I Don’t Remember” in 2020. Now he is working on his new projects.
